Mandy Knits
a knitting blog

I attended a Heywood Banks concert a while back and knitted a couple of these, sewed some pinbacks to them, and my friend and I wore them to the show. Afterwards I gave my toast brooch to Heywood. He seemed to get a kick out of it.

Place both bread pieces together, right sides facing out, and knit them together using an attached i-cord.
If you are unfamiliar with this technique, HERE IS A GOOD TUTORIAL. I used a 3 stitch i-cord.
Instead of one continuous piece of i-cord edging I did an edge on the top and one on the bottom - breaking it up on each side where the bread curves in. Then as I wove in the yarn ends I tried to shape things by tugging the i-cord ends in toward the bread a bit.
You could probably crochet the edge, instead, if the i-cord bit sounds too fiddly.
